Every Chinese year pairs a heavenly stem with an earthly branch. 2027's stem is 丁 Ding, yin Fire: the steady flame of a lamp or candle, not the bonfire of 2026's 丙 Fire Horse. Its branch is 未 Wei, the Goat, the Earth of late summer, which also stores Fire and Wood.
