The year ahead
The Monkey has no direct Tai Sui tie in 2027. You are Metal, and Fire controls Metal. In BaZi, the element that controls you is the authority star: bosses, rules, deadlines and also status. So 2027 tends to hand Monkeys more responsibility. Support from the Goat's Earth is weaker than it looks. It is dry summer Earth, and classical texts say dry Earth does not easily feed Metal (燥土不生金) until Water moistens it. The Monkey carries a little Water of its own (申 hides 壬 Water), so that support reaches you more readily than it reaches the Rooster. The pressure shapes you the way a smith's fire shapes metal into something useful. It is also the year before your own year, 2028, so it is a good time to put your house in order.
Career and money
Promotions, bigger roles and public responsibility are possible, along with closer oversight. Meet deadlines early and keep records. Management, compliance, government and technical roles do well. The Tiger month at the very start of the year, 4 February to 5 March, clashes with the Monkey, so let new-year plans settle before you act on them.
Love and relationships
Authority stars can bring a serious, steady partner, perhaps someone older or more established. If you are in a relationship, work pressure may crowd it out, so protect time together. Keep your wit on the playful side, because a sharp joke lands harder in a tense year.
Health and energy
Chinese medicine links Metal to the lungs and skin, and pressure years tend to show there. Watch for colds when the seasons change, and give stress a physical outlet. Breathing exercises, swimming and regular sleep help.
What to watch
Watch for shortcuts. Fire years scrutinise Metal, so small rule-bending gets noticed. Pay taxes and fines on time. Read the fine print with authorities, landlords and employers. Don't take every responsibility offered; take the ones that build toward 2028.
Best months
These months combine with the Monkey. Use them for interviews and promotion talks.
- 5 Apr to 5 MayDragon month (辰)
- 6 May to 5 JunSnake month (巳)
- 7 Dec 2027 to 5 Jan 2028Rat month (子)
Go gently in the Tiger month, 4 Feb to 5 Mar, which clashes with the Monkey. Months follow the solar calendar BaZi uses, so they start a few days into each Western month.
Lucky colours, numbers and direction
- Colours
- White and gold, then yellow and brown
- Numbers
- 4 and 9, then 5 and 10
- Direction
- West-southwest
These follow the traditional associations. The colours and numbers belong to the Monkey's element, Metal (金), and to Earth (土), the element that feeds it; the numbers come from the He Tu (河图). The direction is the Monkey's own seat on the compass. The element your chart actually needs can differ, and that is what a personal reading works out.
Your animal is one of eight characters
A zodiac forecast reads your birth year alone. Your BaZi chart has four pillars, eight characters in all, and your day master, the element of the day you were born, usually says more about how 2027 treats you. Oracate builds your chart from your birth date and time and reads each day from it.

Questions
Does the Monkey offend Tai Sui in 2027?
No. The Monkey (申) has no clash, punishment, harm or combination with the Goat (未). The year's Fire controls the Monkey's Metal, which BaZi reads as responsibility and authority. The Goat's Earth gives only weak, indirect support, because dry summer Earth feeds Metal well only once Water moistens it.
Is 2028 the Monkey's own year?
Yes. 2028 is 戊申, the Earth Monkey year, so it is the Monkey's own year (本命年). Using 2027 to settle work and money makes that year easier.
